Saturday, November 5, 2-4 PM: Book Signing and Meet-and-Greet with Camille Cole, author of Memoir “The Midnight Show.”

Hang on for the ride of her life. At times a treacherous high-wire act, Camille’s wedding was the final act at the Oregon Country Fair’s Midnight Show a long time ago. At 2:00 a.m., Reverend Chumleigh, henchman for the Miraculous Church of the Incandescent Resurrection, was perched on a tightrope wearing a leopard skin leotard. He pronounced Camille and Jim permanent partners till the cows come home, and the band played a lively rendition of Teddy Bear’s Picnic. Bubble Man encased the two in a giant luminous bubble.

Born at the dawn of the Baby Boom Generation, her tale is a behind-the-scenes peek at one generation’s struggles and triumphs. Woven into her spirited adventure, she shares glimpses into the lives of past generations as told to her as a child by family, and sometimes by ancestors in the attic.

She learned the art of the tuck-and-roll through her frequent, sometimes sad, and sometimes hilarious cliff-hangers. She is at times accompanied by the likes of the Merry Pranksters and a community of revolutionary migrants and refugees who’ve come to Oregon in search of something new, something different from anti-war demonstrations and a sense that there must be something healthier and more satisfying in life.  Join in at the Bus Farm and other local communes of the 1970s. If you were there, your own story will come forth—if not, you either know someone who was, or you may wish that you were.

In her bestselling memoir, The Midnight Show, Camille generously shares her current understanding of the meaning and purpose of it all.
