Saturday, October 19, 8 PM (7:30 door): Singer-Songwriters Kathryn Claire and Laura Kemp share a co-bill!
A fixture on the music scene since moving to Oregon in 1990, Laura Kemp has gained a reputation as one of the finest performers on the west coast. Over the past 25 years she has produced 7 studio and two live CD’s, and has won the Eugene Weekly’s annual poll for Best Singer-Songwriter too many times to keep track. When she is not focused on her music, she is an avid gardener, backpacker, and is deeply committed to her yoga practice.
With her violin, guitar and voice at the center of her music, Kathryn weaves stories and melodies rooted in her classical and traditional music backgrounds while infusing each song with a palpable energy. Her musicality and joy on stage are infectious. Kathryn was the first musician ever to play on the Tsunami Stage, likely in late '98, maybe early '99. At the time she was a student at South. This time around she will be bringing her 4-piece band.
