AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

Ron Tinsley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1947, a time when Jim Crow laws were still being enforced in many parts of the country. In 1966 he joined the U.S. Army, did trainings in Ft Knox, Kentucky and Ft Gordon Georgia and on to his permanent duty station in Oahu, Hawaii. There Ron enjoyed a successful career as a Jazz and R & B vocalist opening for such artists as the Four Tops, Buddy Miles, and Lou Rawls, and performing on-stage with Stevie Wonder, Bonnie Raitt and Boz Scaggs among others.

From Hawaii, in 1980 Ron moved to the Pacific Northwest to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a Forest Ranger. He worked for the U.S. Forest service on a wildland firefighting crew and in other areas of forestry in Oregon and across the country.

In 1991, after attending the University of Oregon and obtaining a business degree, he founded Custom Craftworks, a company specializing in the manufacture of massage and physical therapy equipment. He grew the company from a single-car garage to the third largest company in the industry. He went on to found Valley Technology, manufacturing products for operating rooms and anesthesiology departments in the medical industry. He holds numerous patents including the Epidural Positioning Device which is used in labor and delivery and operating rooms worldwide and the Cervical Relief Pillow.

Ron now resides in the Pacific Northwest and spends his time consulting in residential and commercial real estate and exploring the spectacular rivers and mountains of the Pacific Northwest through backpacking, fly fishing and floating the crystal-clear rivers. More than anything though, he loves spending time with his close-knit family.
