Sunday, June 10, 5-7 PM: Book Release (and Birthday Celebration) for Poet Carter McKenzie. Carter, a much–loved and respected Oregon poet and activist, will read from her new book of poems, “Stem of Us” (Flowstone Press). Of this book, author Karen McPherson says: “...whether she is denouncing acts of violence and cruelty or embracing moments of beauty and possibility; whether she is pondering or probing or exhorting or praising, Carter McKenzie is always generous, reverent, authentic.” She is the author of a previous book of poetry, “Out of Refusal,” (Airlie Press), and a chapbook, “Naming Departure.” As part of this very special Celebration Rosie Hernandez will offer a bi-lingual reading of her poem “Un Sueno.” Music provided by Tom Barry, guitar, and Ricardo Cardenas, classical guitar.
