An Evening with David Barsamian/Benefit for KEPW

 An Evening with David Barsamian.

One of America's most tireless and wide-ranging investigative journalists, David Barsamian has altered the independent media landscape, both with his weekly radio show Alternative Radio—now in its 31th year—and his books with Noam Chomsky, Eqbal Ahmad, Howard Zinn, Tariq Ali, Richard Wolff, Arundhati Roy and Edward Said. His forthcoming books are with Noam Chomsky and Arundhati Roy. He lectures on world affairs, imperialism, capitalism, propaganda, the media, the economic crisis and global rebellions.

Sliding scale donations of $10 to $50 will go to KEPW’s 2017 operating budget including music licenses, studio equipment and wider antenna coverage. David Barsamian’s books and tapes will also be available for sale.

Press Release: CELEBRATE KEPW COMMUNITY RADIO WITH NATIONAL RADIO HOST DAVID BARSAMIAN, MUSIC AND REFRESHMENTS

(Sliding scale donations of $10 to $50 will go to KEPW’s 2017 operating budget including music licenses, studio equipment and wider antenna coverage. David Barsamian’s books and tapes will also be available for sale. )

To celebrate KEPW community radio now broadcasting at 97.3 FM and on-line at www.kepw.org, Eugene PeaceWorks is hosting a meet-and-greet event with award-winning radio host David Barsamian. His “Alternative Radio” show is heard on over 200 stations including KEPW. Musicians David Rogers, Laura Kemp and Chico Schwall will perform at the Thursday, May 18th event from 7-10 pm at Tsunami Books. Barsamian will speak on the importance of independent media as a means to a sustainable future. Refreshments will be provided as well as a drawing for gift certificates.

With over 35 years of activism, Eugene PeaceWorks is proud to sponsor KEPW Community Radio, its newest project and to announce it successfully received a FCC broadcasting license. Broad support from our caring community led to $15,000 in donations for equipment and installation in 2016. As a result, we acted on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to establish a new radio station that offers a broader outlook than was provided locally. KEPW Community Radio is committed to airing diverse voices, music and discussion of controversial issues from unique local, regional and national programs and perspectives. We are providing a forum for local voices to be heard that have either been marginalized or almost totally excluded from our airwaves including seniors, women, children, youth, LBGTQ, homeless folks and communities of color
