Saturday, January 28, 5 PM: Songs at Tsunami, a chamber concert series, hosted by Laura Wayte.
January's songs@tsunami concert features soprano Tess Altiveros and Elisabeth Ellis on piano. They will perform selections by Libby Larson, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Maurice Ravel and Robert Schumann, as well as northwest composers Emerson Eads and Thomas Joyce. Poetry from Ursula Vaughan Williams, Shakespeare and Yeats.
Praised by Opera News for "a ripe, sensual lyric soprano," Tess Altiveros is in high demand on both operatic and concert stages nationwide. Past season highlights include The Turn of the Screw (Eugene Opera), Così fan Tutte (City Opera Ballet), Le Nozze di Figaro (Angels & Demons Entertainment), a performance described as “transcendent” and “luminous” by the Twin Cities Arts Reader, Die Fledermaus (Opera Coeur d’Alene) and was the completion of her eighth season singing the National Anthem for the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. Her 2016/2017 engagements include La Bohème under the baton of Andrew Litton (Colorado Symphony), La Tragédie de Carmen (Skylark Opera Theatre), West Side Story (Eugene Opera), Vaughan Williams's Dona Nobis Pacem (Seattle Pro Musica), Bach's St. Matthew Passion (semi-staged, Colorado Symphony), Don Giovanni (Angels & Demons Entertainment), and L'Orfeo with maestro Stephen Stubbs (Pacific MusicWorks).
